The Bartenders Association of Ireland (BAI) will hold two major competitions for bartenders plus a Bacardi Cocktail Academy at Hospitality 2012, RDS. 20-22 Feb.

 

These competitions and Cocktail Academy are open to all bartenders working in the Republic of Ireland.

The competitions, which are sponsored by Bacardi & Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd, will take place on Monday 20^th February 2012 in the RDS, Dublin 4.

The Cocktail Academy will run on Tuesday 21^st.

National Flair Cocktail Competition – Monday 20^th February

This year’s competition will seek to find the best Flair bartender in Ireland. The winner will represent the Bartenders’ Association of Ireland by competing at the World Cocktail Competition in Beijing in November 2012.

Flair was made famous by Tom Cruise in the film ‘Cocktail’. Flair bartending is the practice of bartenders entertaining guests, clientele or audiences with the manipulation of shakers and bottles in tricky, dazzling ways. Used frequently in bars around the world, the action requires skills commonly associated with jugglers. It has become a sought after talent among venue owners and marketers to help advertise a product or the opening of a bar establishment.

Bacardi 150^th Celebration Cocktail Competition – Monday 20^th February

As the name suggests, this competition will mark the 150^th Anniversary of Bacardi Rum, which was found in 1862.

Bartenders across Ireland are invited to prepare their original cocktail creations using Bacardi as the base spirit. Each competitor must prepare a mouth watering cocktail while at the same time showcasing their knowledge while utilising a professional technique accompanied by the highest standards of hygiene.

The prize for the winner is a visit to Bacardi Puerto Rico or a visit to Bacardi Miami.*

Bacardi Cocktail Academy – Tuesday 21^st February

Throughout the day, bartenders from the Bartenders Association of Ireland and the Bacardi Team at Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd will make presentations, demonstrations and offer some hot tips on the making and selling of cocktails.

This promises to be highly informative for any bar owner, manager or bartender looking to increase their cocktail sales and profitability.
